TakaraTOMY are currently promoting a new line of transforming robots called Drive Head.
Differences between Drive Head & Transformers includes:
* The "body" of the Drive Heads need to connect to a regular car (Tomica - Tomy's equivalent of Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars). I suppose that they'd be able to carry regular Tomicas too, but they would need special Drive Head cars that actually have the robots' heads inside them. Didn't see any stand-alone Drive Head cars - so far it's just the Drive Heads that they come with. I guess they can do Cross Head On, didn't try it.
* Mecha are non-sentient. They're piloted by 10 year old police officers. Yes, the story premise is that stupid.
In countries like Australia we view realistic looking toy guns as imitation firearms. But this is precisely how they are viewed in Japan...
This isn't a Transformers pic, but just to give you an idea of just how different the Japanese view toy guns, I found these air soft/BB guns at a toy store at the Nakamise shopping arcade just outside Sensou Temple in Tokyo.
That's it! Now that I'm back home, all further pics of MP36 will be taken from strictly inside my home. But it was fun being able to openly carry him around in public where I was legally able to do so.
