Sifun: coz they had a new toy to sell!
Shazam: Yea, Skyfire = Jetfire. Even though Bandai licenced the toy model out, they didn't do the same for the animation model. So Sunbow had to redraw it to avoid any legal entanglements. As to the sizing issue... it's G1, crappy scaling was par for the course :P

Jetfire/Skyfire was originally intended to look more like his toy.

    Here's Jetfire's original concept art...

I think they changed his name when they had to change the design.

And Jetfire's original design (as seen in the TV toy ad)...

Toy Kingdom had $27.99 Animated deluxes next to Movie deluxes for $26.99, so yes they were expensive. Big W is usually the cheapest for deluxes (about $24) and they usually range from $24 to $27 in other stores but most of us wait until they have a 20% off sale and you can get a deluxe toy for just under $20

Well maybe not exactly the same size as the rest, but one moment he'll be massive so that the other autobots can sit inside him and then the next minute he's only a bit bigger then the other autobots.

I guess, its kinda like the situation with Megatron when he transforms into a gun.
