The Seacons have now been listed on TakaraTomyMall for late January... well, two have.
It looks like these won't be sold as a (box)set as "wave 1" is just Turtler (Snaptrap) and Gulf (Skalor), sold as a pair or separately.
The listings show the two toys in full colour, which makes them look really nice.
On the bad side, the prices are really bad, at 11,124yen - about AU$150-160 for the pair (a normal Voyager and Deluxe would be about AU$80 here).
Strewth- why so expensive? I mean it’s not like it’s all brand new engineering, just clever retools. And frankly I don’t think Snap Trap in turtle mode looks that crash hot with those bulky shoulders and teeny front legs. Sure the original toy was a square with some legs and a shield attached but he still looked a lot better than that.
Skalor looks the business though eh - considering how ugly an alt-mode he has they’ve done a pretty good job

I mean yes, I can clearly see who they're retools of. And yes, they're pricey. But I will be acquiring these. I love these Combiner Wars/United releases giving the individual combiner toys fully fleshed out toys.
Eagerly waiting for Masterpiece Meister
In this case I agree as the additional retooling of the moulds needs to be offset to be financially viable, despite the lower numbers of personnel and raw materials required.
If however they release a God Neptune version and charge even more, I'll be flipping tables.
I miss the good ole days of the Unite Warriors gift sets. Abominus and Piranacon should have been done the same way.
Perhaps they're not confident that releasing these as mass market figures would make sufficient sales (either as a combined box set or as individual store figures). Just yesterday I still found POTP Terrorcons pegwarming at a Target. <shrugs> I still remember many of the CW box sets shelf warming at TRU before their closure.
But yeah, for a limited set like the Seacons I definitely agree that a box set would be preferable, especially in terms of saving on postage costs. But I guess that's not an issue for their domestic market. Perhaps Hasbro Pulse will release their own version. If so, I would like to see some cosmetic variations done (e.g. more toy accurately coloured faces, chrome sword etc.), but given this whole "brand globalisation" rubbish mandate I wouldn't hold my breath.
Being a limited online exclusive at least makes the high price tag a bit easier to swallow. I cannot believe that TakaraTOMY's SG-26 Jetfire, which AFAIK is a regular mass store release toy, is is selling for ¥18000 ($250+)! That's easily $100 above our RRP! ...ya know, if Jetfire ever gets actually released in Australia.
