Default Has anyone got.played with Star wars deathstar/Darth Vader

    Hey Guys,

I was at the shops a few days ago and saw the Death star/Darth Vader figure. It looked fairly nice and it seemed that the death star mode was an actual sphere (like sybertron primus). Has anyone bought or played with this toy. I'd just like some more info on it

    Thanks

First of all, WELCOME BACK to OzFormers Eazy D! It's been far too long.

In answer to your question, I have Darth Vader/Death Star... it's not a very exciting toy. It is seriously the ultimate shellformer - makes Big Convoy/Universe Nemesis Prime look good! Phwoar! The TIE fighters' panels keep popping off because they can't be secured properly... overall it's fairly "meh" Transformer action figure. But like most Star Wars Transformers, while it's pretty ordinary as a TF action figure, it does have a pretty neat alt mode. The Death Star mode is as good as you'd expect and the green missile gimmick mimics the Death Star gun pretty well. It also comes with four retractable legs that you can extend to display the Death Star on a shelf without having it roll around.

I don't think it's worth the RRP for it though and I would only recommend it if it were on sale. Or as it was in my case, was advertised for sale at a Deluxe price! For $30 I'd say it was worth it... but I wouldn't recommend paying much more than $65 for it.

Here's dirge's review. Hope to see you around more often at the board - and especially at fan meets!!

The Death Star is a nice toy with a satisfying (to me) sort of puzzle aspect as you get all the limbs and panels lined up so you end up with the smooth ball. The little sound grabs built in to the toy are nice. It's the only SWTF I think is worth picking up.

I have it too during the sales. It's pretty good, but as Gok said, it is a shell former but it's still mighty fine as the Death Star mode is a perfect smooth sphere. It is a very large figure though. One of the only 3 SW Crossover figures worht picking up (along with the Millenium Falcon, and Commander Cody Clone Tank). Don't pay more than $50.

Picked it up during that huge Toy sale at K-mart months ago. I think it is a good Transformer. Despite it's shelformer tenancy, it is very solid. It is a pain in the backside to get back to alt mode, but once it is there you could roll it round really easy

It's still at BigWs for $46 last I checked so u should be able to get it for that much. It's a solid leader sized toy but the deathstar mode is hard to realise.

Thanks for all the info guys!

He seems worth picking up if I can find the 46 buck price point.

How r u going gok? I never really left! I just got relegated to lurking since I had no internet connection. I'll definitely come to the meets - I just need to work up a bit more free time. Universe classics kind of spurred me from dormancy.

    Best. Bowling Ball. Ever.

(well, if I had it, that's what I'd be using it for)

It is rather funny because it could actually made a decent one if the pins were just that bit lighter, or those plastic light ones or something.

Maybe we should make a sport of it.
