Default Toy Review - GEN FOC Air Raid

    Series - Generations
    Sub-line - Fall of Cybertron
    Size/class - Deluxe
    Wave - 3
    New/remould/redeco - remoulded Shockwave
Released here - February 2013 (globally Dec 2012)
    Approximate Retail Price - 25-30 Au$
    Approximate Size - 14cm
    Allegiance - Decepticon
    Alt-mode - Cybertronian jet
    Main Features/Gimmicks - none
Main Colours - red, bronze, gold, silver
Main Accessories - two-piece gun, sword

Air Raid is the repaint of Shockwave in FOC wave 1 with new head and chest.
The mode is good and it surprise me. I was thinking initially that it is worthy to get as it is the same as Shockwave. However, when I got it, it is much better than I though. The color scheme is good and you cannot tell that it is the same as Shockwave.

Weapon is another highlight. This wave is all about large weapons. the sword can taken into three different parts: a double headed gun, a long sword and a short one. They also combined into a large one.

If you see it release in Aussie, make sure you get it. I got this figure from HK. A friend of mine regularly tell me what's new and will buy and ship it here for me. Enjoy the photos.

Nice review, you're very lucky to have a friend sending you all these figures way before they reach here! I think this figure can look less Shockwave-like and more like an Aerialbot if its possible to fold the back wings so they are facing downwards. Also, can't wait until they repaint this figure to look like a certain Senator

I finally got around to opening Air Raid, I was pleasantly surprised. This is a really cool figure, the paint apps are great and the colours work really well. The weapons are a neat bonus as well especially if your a fan of the game. This guy makes me want to jump back into game

Does hte plastic quality feel higher on this than on Shockwave?
i do NOT Play with toys...

But I DO occasionally do scale model assisted simulations in physical fight dynamics.

Looks nothing like Air Raid did in WFC or FOC which is a shame. I thought Air Raid looked particularly good in WFC and would have loved to see a toy based on him rather than a Shockwave redo. Seems Air Raid has just become one of those names they will give to any Autobot jet. Put this guy next to DOTM Air Raid and then G1 Air Raid, not much similarity.

But I got him simply because he was part of the 5 pack wave that got released by BBTS last year

Guess that makes him the Autobot Swerve of Autobot jets!

True, though at least Swerve generally has the same colour scheme throughout his different incarnations. I've got an Air Raid from the 'Cybertron' toyline that is coloured pretty much the same as Acid Storm!

Hasbro are probably using the names Swerve and Air Raid so that they can preserve their ownership over those trademarks. If they don't use the names, they can expire (as has happened to names like Outback etc.). But having said that... it still doesn't excuse:
    1) Using the names haphazardly. If you're gonna call a toy Air Raid, make it look like Air Raid! Alright, Movieverse I can forgive because let's face it, 90% of the TFs in that series look nothing like their G1 namesakes () -- but with FOC, especially when the character already exists in the game, it just seems weird. I've seen this toy around a few times, and even on sale I couldn't bring myself to buy it. If the game model itself were a redeco of Shockwave then I probably would have.
    2) The overuse of trademarks! We don't need another bazillion Bumblebees and Optimus Primes! Hasbro have well and truly overdefended those names IMHO!
