G1 reissues now at Kmart

I went on a road trip to the Central Coast this weekend and found this at the Kmart Tugareh. :eek:

Perfectly G1 accurate packaging, and towards the back were figures like Soundwave, all the Insecticons, Sixshot, Fangry, Horribull, Trailbreaker, Mirage, Sunstreaker etc.!

I scanned Optimus Prime which did come up being $10 dearer than the tag on the shelf.

Not sure if the tag is wrong, but they honoured the shelf price for me when I pointed it out to them. :)

I also found the G1 reissues on Kmart's site, available for online order too.

I’ve never understood the obsession with April fools.

While the photoshop was good, Kmart can’t even get the actual stock in...

I was at that very Kmart store on Friday & picked up the last G1 Megatron. So pumped I was. Glad I made the trip to the Central Coast rather than the Easter Show in Sydney.

There was a stack of Time Warriors on the end cap of the shelf too.

They only had Machine Men at my local Kmart. Luckily I prefer them over Transformers -- plus Machine Men was a better cartoon overall as well!

You could at least do a plausible April fools joke.

I appreciate the time and effort and I am surprised a Kmart let you walk in with merchandise and set it up. Ten again it would’ve been nice to see a somewhat filled tf section once more...

Behind the scenes...

A few people seem to think that I've used Photoshop. I think people forget that I'm incapable of using any graphics program that's any more complicated than MS Paint. :p So here's what happened.

* I got together with another TF collector who brought along some of his boxed G1 toys. We swung by the place of another collector who lent us some of his sealed G1 toys, although he wasn't free to join us in our shenanigans.

* We then drove to a nearby Kmart, placed these toys on the shelves and then took photos.

* We scanned a TLK Leader Class Megatron and then swapped it for Optimus Prime. Of course, G1 boxed toys have the barcode on the back of the box and you can see that I'm scanning the bottom. This is because scanning the barcode itself did bring up an "item not found" prompt on the scanner. :D Also, I decided to deliberately scan the bottom (as opposed to say scanning the Robot Point) as another clue that this is fake.

There was one photo that was modified via MS Paint, and that is the photo of me scanning G1 Optimus Prime. Here's the before and after shot. ;)

Anyone else keeping count of how many times he tries to do April a Fools, but gets the time wrong?

Actually the effort behind it all is the best bit. :) The timing sucked, but the effort is tops.

Cos the board's clock is set on QLD time whereas I'm in NSW. Although this year I was inadvertently caught out in that one hour limbo when NSW shifted from AEDST to AEST. Gah... I actually hate DLS but watevs. :rolleyes:

P.S.: one true part about the story was that I did actually drive down from the Central Coast, so uh, yeah, was pretty fatigued when I posted this. :p

As soon as I saw it was GoktimusPrime, I knew that it was an April fools joke. But what I found was people in a different timezone were completely fooled.
