Transformers Animated may have started screening in America a few months ago, it will not be on our screens until May 31st and June 1st at 9.30am on Cartoon Network. It should be on every weekend after that, with an as yet unconfirmed air date on free-to-air Channel 10.
A DVD of the first 6 episodes will be released in September, while the first episode will be released on a bonus DVD packaged with an Animated 2-pack set.
The toys themselves will see a June 1st release date in Australia, and will go to at least mid 2009.

(Note that release dates are subject to change at any time)

Supreme sized 'Rollout Command Optimus Prime'. Figure is pushed along a smooth surface, causing the top half to rotate and slowly reveal arms and head. The legs are then transformed manually. Nov/Dec release.
(We took a video recording of this gimmick. It will be posted here sometime in the next day)

Leader size Bulkhead (with Headmaster) and Megatron (Earth Mode). Aug release. Hasbro's two toy awards are on either side.

Animated Activators Bulkhead, Bumblebee, Starscream. Aug release. Each figure transforms to vehicle mode by locking in parts and limbs, but auto-transform to robot mode with the press of a button.

Bumper Battlers Optimus Prime, Autobot Ratchet, Bumblebee. Jul release. Toys are similar to Cyber Slammers, but have electronic features.
Power Bots Cyberspeed Bumblebee. Sep release. A Cyber Stomper is shown because that's what a Power Bot appears to be.
http://www.otca.com.au/toyfair052.jpg

Quickshift Command Game. Aug release. A very simplistic gamepad game, with the main gimick being that pulling out the side panels transforms Optimus inside the game, and closing in the panels transforms him back to truck mode.
http://www.otca.com.au/toyfair053.jpg

I still have about 7 video clips to get uploaded onto the net, which show the gimmicks of the Activators, Rollout Prime and the gamepad.
I'm too tired and sick at the moment to do anything with them right now, so expect them in a days time, as links posted here.
The Toyfair would be something I would like to do again on an annual basis, and since it was fairly easy to get into this year (last year all the movie stuff was viewed by approved appointment only), it'd be good to let other people here have access.
It was worth the trip (and illness).
Thankyou for reading, and goodnight... :)

Surely there is a mainline Animated figure that I don't want somewhere, they are all so good! I can't afford all of them!

Or can I....

Anyone need a kidney? Lung? Heart?

Hahaha... "As seen on TV"!

These Animated figures look amazing!

Griffin what was your impression of Supreme Rollout Command Prime? Worth having or another clunky failure like Ultimate Bumblebee? And did you find out if there would also be a leader class Prime? Thanks

I'm not Griffin, but my impression was not very good. It's basically and oversized and slightly more complicated cyberslammer. It will appeal to some kids I guess. Video of it in action is coming.

I'd prefer the new elctronic cyberslammers which transform when the bumper is hit, say you ram it into something, and speak a lot of lines from the cartoon.

One thing that amused me with animated is that Deluxe, Voyager, Leader and auto transforming Supreme all have the same Transformation challenge rating of 3 making that scale rather pointless.

I'm not Griffin...but I was very unimpressed by it.
At least Bumblebee had a cool alt mode & an actual transformation.
This toy has a very simplistic leg transformation, and thats it.
It also has zero articulation, with everything built around the gimmick.

yeah, that rollout command Prime doesn't look very interesting - the Voyager mould looks better, but I don't like that battle damage! If they released an undamaged voyager Animated Prime, I'd definitely get it. :/

If I'm not mistaken, the Prime in Battle Begin two pack is Battle Damaged Deluxe Cybertron Mode Prime which is just like the standalone Deluxe version but with added Battle Damage. The Voyager Prime is Earth Mode Prime and I've never seen that with Battle Damage.

Going by TFarchive, Goktimus, it looks like the 2-pack are just 'recolours' of figures that will be released individually anyway.

soundwave with electric guitar!!! , i really like how the toys bridge the cartoon. Not some cheap attempt later to release the same figure with extra things..:)

I think the battle 2 pack would have been better with battle damaged deluxe (cybertronian mode)Prime instead of the voyager. After all, that was the size he was when he intially tangoed with Megatron.

Leader Bulkheads facial expression changes hey? Being swayed. Dammit! This is gonna be one expensive set coz I reckon they is all ace (bar rollout prime who looks like a big glob of play-d'oh!"

You can see the breakdown here:

http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/animated/default.cfm?page=Products/Catalog&viewall=yes

Based on that and other various info and pics on the interweb, my assessment is as follows:

As far as solo figures go, there are two Primes available in 1st wave, one Cybertron Deluxe and one Earth Voyager. There is only one Megatron, a Cybertron Voyager.

The 2-pack comes with the same Deluxe Cybertron Prime, but with battle damage. However, the 2-pack comes with an as-yet-unique Deluxe Cybertron Megatron.

Oh, I see. After looking at that the 2 pack has 2 deluxes hey? Looks like the 2 Pack Prime has some changes to his chest to show his Earth mode. OOooh! Better go and change my order now. I thought they were both Voyagers (at a REALLY good price:p).

Thanks Jaydisc!

Woah. After looking at it again, it seems to be third Prime mold.... I take back what I said.

The low for me in all the news is the Supreme Animated Prime. It's really disappointing that it'll be such a crap and unarticulated toy. But given Ultimate BB's success, Hasbro will be churning more of these every year now so I guess we'd better get used to it.

I'll miss the old Supreme Class figures though. They weren't all perfect but they were decent toys and their scale and actual poseability compensated for their deficiencies. Electronics, however, do not.

They need to put an end to the supremes.

A final supreme toy.

Maybe even an Omega Supreme.

(fingers crossed :) )

Yeh it does suck a little, but just don't buy it if it looks crap.

I would like the Supreme size to be used for cooler stuff. Primus and Unicron were both ACE!!! Surely a Supreme sized Metroplex is possible (I don't count CYB's Metroplex as a Metroplex). Or as Paulbot said an Omega Supreme. Man that would be awesome to have some base Tfs back again!

Yeah, selling toys at that size and price point is good if the toy justifies it (e.g.: Primus and Unicron). I see a lot of other Supreme figures just not justifying that price point - and definitely never seen anything from the Ultimate price point look worthwhile (granted there's only been one so far)

Just as an added note. As expected, the Aus Star Wars collector site has covered the Toyfair, and posted up several Transformers photos.
Nothing there that we didn't take photos of though, but wanted to mention it as they cover just about all the other stuff on display by Hasbro (and a few other distributors).

Would I be correct in assuming that the Ultimate size was Movie "Ultimate Bumblebee"?

GoktimusPrime
9th April 2008, 11:19 AM
Indeed. I hope that if they release any more Ultimates that the toy would be good enough to justify that size and price point. I would be willing to pay for an Ultimate figure if I felt that it was good value for money - same with Supremes. I felt totally ripped off with Supreme Cheetor and I've avoided Supreme Cybertron Starscream for that reason. Air Attack Optimus Primal on the other hand I felt was reasonably good value - ditto with Unicron and Primus. If you're going to make a toy expensive, then that toy needs to justify that price point in order for it to present good value for money to consumers.

is there a definite list of what will be released on June 1st?

The figures on display at Toy Fair are figures that will only be released for the June 1st date?

Hey BRead,

The best list to go by is here:

http://hasbro.com/transformers/animated/default.cfm?page=Products/Catalog&viewall=yes

Although it looks like Voyager Optimus Prime (Earth mode) will not be in the first wave.
