I got this email from igear informing me of the upcoming release of "lightning" which looks like a direct rip of MP thundercracker. Here's the link:

Although I didn't get them, the conehead seekers I could kind of understand, but this figure has been released by tak/tom, and there was speculation a good while back that it would be released by hasbro like MP starscream and skywarp.

Yeah I agree. This is a direct ripoff offering nothing new other than moving the tail fin assemblies from the hips to the legs which you can already do with the official figure.
Since Hasbro has clearly shown that they don't care (KOs and Unauthorized toys at Botcon), it just allows some less original 3rd party groups to become bolder.
I would say this fits more in the KO sub section than here but since Hasbro doesn't care about protecting it's properties then why should we?

As well as the better tail fin design it should also have com links in both the lower arms like the coneheads have. Just like what MP Prime has. Im loving the more Toon paintjob too.

I haven't looked at/ tried to do that to mine, but would you happen to know of a link?

All you need to do is pop of the tail fin assembly from the hip ball joint and attach it to the leg. I did that some years ago and took photos, let me see if I can find them.
Edit: Found it!
That's how I display and play with mine:

I also do the same when I display my MP seekers:

I also like to shift the parts like that for greater leg joint movement and stability for a greater variety of poses. The parts attached to the hips are way too restrictive. The tail fins also add much needed heels when attached to the legs. Also note that you don't have to 'pull out the back wings' to accommodate the hip kibble any more but keep them in place for a more G1 look.

So far it doesn't look very impressive, the colours all look dull and uninspired, particularly the grey which looks no better than Hasbro grey.
They do seem to have modified the top of the legs, they stick out less than on Kup's custom pics, however that's pretty much it. Other than people who missed out on MP Thundercracker the first time around don's seem much desire for it, and you'd think Hasbro would have released their own version Thundercracker in the US by now.

These have to be the most Hasbro-ey not starscream and skywarp yet! They even say on the page that it is the same size as MP 3!

MP Skywarp was and still is available in the states for $25 on clearance.
Why the hell would anyone buy these?

There is clearly a branch in IGear who are not very clever and just concentrate on ripping off existing molds because it's easy. There doesn't seem to be much thought into it aside from easy money.

I have no loyalty to Hasbro & this looks good to me very good I must say. If I showed the contempt to my clients that Hasbro does to their customers I would expect to lose their business.

Those Sharkticons look great. Hopefully they're not going to be too expensive, otherwise troop building is going to be costly.

The Sharkticons look great.
MP Skywarp and Starscream, I think they have gone a little too far on these two, wonder if Hasbro will crack down now on IGear because of them.

I agree that iGear's Sharkticons look absolutely awesome! - A very well executed update even if they are still only CG Renders.
I will never condone these MP Seekers KOs though, for the life of me I don't know why they don't stick to creating original molds and forget about stealing the molds of others.

Not a fan of KOs but the iGear Sunstorm is very very tempting... does anyone have it?
I'm interested to know if there are any issues with the toy... thanks.
